Unusual Ontario Birds
The following pages contain images of some of the interesting birds I have had the chance to see here in Ontario. Many are of rare or uncommon bird species, but others are of birds with unusual plumages or hybrids etc. The pictures are organised by date, with the most recent photos appearing at the top. March 9th, 2007 "Western" Red-tailed Hawk a dark morph adult my Dad and I found (poor record shots).

December 15th, 2006 Razorbill tough to see, but well worth the trips.
November 27th, 2006 Black-legged Kittiwake a young bird giving great views in the gorge of Niagara Falls.
October 28th, 2006 Yellow-throated Warbler a new Hamilton bird for me. Thankfully it was there while I was at home!
October 6th, 2006 California Gull an adult giving nice, backlit, views from Wheatley Harbour near Point Pelee.
October 5th, 2006 Swainson's Hawk a bird I have long looked for! From Point Pelee birding area.
September 16th, 2006 Loggerhead Shrike a bird I had at the DeLaurier Parkinglot of Point Pelee N.P.
September 9th, 2006 Hybrid Adult Great Black-backed x Herring Gull at least, thats what I think it is.
September 1st, 2006 Manx Shearwater! from Van Wagners Beach. Boy I was happy it came back this day!
August 31st, 2006 Tricoloured Heron the beautiful and cooperative bird from Niagara Falls!
May 29th, 2006 Lawrence's Warbler a great adult male. Photos taken on a few different days.
May 27th, 2006 Brewster's Warbler (hybrid) a bird that resembles a 1st generation male.
May 23rd, 2006 Curlew Sandpiper from the Townsend Sewage Lagoons. Probably a female?
May 14th, 2006 Herring x Great Black-backed Gull hybrid - i think
May 11th, 2006 Possible Cassin's Vireo from the Woodland Nature Trail at Point Pelee. Would be a 1st provincial record!
May 8th, 2006 Black-billed Magpie where did it come from? Where is it going?
May 7th, 2006 Eurasian Common Teal from Hillman Marsh. A bird I was watching for this spring, but it showed up later than expected!
May 6th, 2006 Leucistic American Robin it seems weird birds just show up near Pelee.
April 14th, 2006 Leucistic Black-capped Chickadee from my backyard!
